VUP belongs in the present to a few companies in Slovakia that perform
industrial research in the field of chemistry. It is above all research of
petrochemical and other organic and inorganic syntheses, processes and products
to the level of technological foundations for new plants. Considering duration
of its existence it belongs to the oldest companies in this field of research. It performs research for the own use and also for other subjects. It provides the complete solution of projects including elaboration of literary and patent retrieval, laboratory and technological research, elaboration of analytical methodologies for determination of raw-materials, products and intermediates, measurement of technical-safety and physical-chemical parameters of raw-materials and products, separation of reaction mixtures and purification of products, verification of a process in semi- up to pilot- plant scale, ecology solution, chemical engineering and elaboration of technological foundations for production institution. Results of successful research have been shown also in invention activity. During the existence of the company workers have entered 1075 of invention applications for what there have been given nearly 1000 patents. The research is an important part of VUP activity. It is participating of ca 30 % in total sales of the company. VUP makes an effort to keep the own research base also in the future. VUP is the holder of the ISO 9001:2000 certificate for the research and
development of chemical processes, chemical specialities and small-tonnage
chemistry, analyses and laboratory testing of physical and chemical
characteristics of materials. VUP has accredited analytical, technical-safety
and ecological laboratories, special technological and physical-chemical
workplaces and operation rooms and equipment for carrying out of pilot plant
verification attempts. There are 40 specialists with corresponding education
engaged in the research activity.
